Squad video of Castile shooting expected to be made public

Viewer discretion is advised. Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, streamed live video of Castile's dying moments onto Facebook.

The squad-car video was shown at trial, but hasn't yet been released publicly.

From St. Paul to Chicago, activists had taken to the streets to express outrage over the jury's decision to vindicate Officer Jeronimo Yanez.

On June 16, Yanez was acquitted of manslaughter and two lesser charges. It does not show what happened inside the auto or what Yanez saw. The officer testified that Castile was pulling his gun out of his pocket despite his commands not to do so. It shows Yanez approaching Castile's vehicle and asking for a driver's license and proof of insurance. Yanez continues, saying "I don't know where the gun was".

Yanez pulled over 32-year-old Castile for a broken taillight in July 2016. After Yanez reached Castile's driver's side window, roughly 30 seconds passed before Yanez fired his weapon. Yanez can be heard yelling that before he fired seven shots into the auto.

Castile's body is thrown to the right after the first shot.

After the shooting, the video shows Yanez standing at the auto window, with his gun drawn for some time.

Yanez was also charged with two felony counts of intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers safety because Reynolds and her four-year-old daughter were also in the auto at the time of the shooting. "In the meantime, Officer Yanez will not return to active duty".
