Employee accused of mishandling babies at a Jacksonville hospital: 'Sorry for offending'

The Jacksonville Naval Hospital removed the nurses from active patient care and issued a statement denouncing the actions of their employees.

ABC affiliate WFTS reported that the photo is an image from a Snapchat account belonging to one of the employees.

A second photo shows another nurse holding a baby by the arms and is taken from a video in which she makes the child "dance" to 50 Cent song In Da Club.

The hospital posted a reply to seeing the photos on social media.

One of the pictures, which was first posted to Snapchat, shows Allyson Thompson, a corpsman at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, giving a baby the middle finger with the typed caption, "How I now feel about these mini Satans", according to Action News Jacksonville.

The Naval Hospital Jacksonville called the actions, "outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and can not be tolerated", in a post on the hospital's Facebook page Monday.

Shellito wrote a Facebook post where she described her decision to post the images publicly and to demand retribution for the nurses' actions. Another picture shows a staff member making an obscene gesture at an infant.

A naval hospital in Florida said the actions of a couple of nurses will be handled by military justice. We're in the process of notifying the patient " s parents".

"I don't think I'll being go to naval to deliver", said one commenter on Facebook.

The images caused an outpouring of rage on social media, with the nurses branded "cruel" and "disgusting".
