Trump stopped Saudi Arabia, UAE from invading Qatar, report says

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday denied warning Saudi Arabia on taking military action against Qatar.

Shortly after addressing the United Nations General Assembly, US President Donald Trump and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in NY to discuss the Gulf's major diplomatic crisis. Qatar is home to the largest United States military base in the Middle East.

It's been more than 100 days since the Arab quartet's boycott against Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting and funding terrorist groups.

The speech capped the emir's first foreign trip since his country was isolated by a Saudi-led bloc of Arab states in June.

"Trump, who has said he would be willing to mediate the worst dispute in decades among the USA -allied Arab states and Qatar, said he had a "very strong feeling" the dispute would be solved "pretty quickly".

He said that Qatar News Agency QNA was hacked for political purposes, which were followed by political dictations that have an impact on sovereignty.

Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani addresses the 72nd United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York, US, September 19, 2017.

"It's disappointing that he talks about interference in the internal affairs of others while refusing to admit that is a core part of the four nations' complaints against Qatar", the official added".

Among the accusations from the Saudi-led coalition are that Qatar supports terrorism and meddling in the region.

When asked if he had warned Saudi Arabia and the UAE against invading Qatar, Trump responded, "No".
