Vikings add Bridgewater to active roster, put Bradford on IR

The Minnesota Vikings have taken quarterback Teddy Bridgewater off the physically unable to perform list, adding him to the active roster for the first time since he badly injured his left knee during practice more than 14 months ago.

It's been a long road to recovery for Bridgewater.

At this point, it would not surprise me if he were headed for injured reserve and/or surgery.

Bridgewater was placed on the PUP list to start the season, and he returned to practice October 18, the first day he was eligible.

Keenum has been a serviceable starter for the Vikings, throwing for 1,610 yards and seven touchdowns with three interceptions in seven appearances.

Bradford saw Andrews on September 22, but it was determined then that no surgery was needed.

Week 5 against the Chicago Bears is the last time quarterback Sam Bradford played in a game for the Minnesota Vikings.

Bradford, who turned 30 on Wednesday, will become an unrestricted free agent next season.

Bridgewater, whom the Vikings selected in the first round of the 2015 draft, has not played since the 2015 playoffs.

Bradford, acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles after Bridgewater's injury past year, has been battling an ailing knee since leading the Vikings to a 29-19 win over the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 opener. From Week 8 on, all players cut go directly to waivers.

Bridgewater has hasn't played since suffering a torn left ACL in August 2016.

The Vikings have a decision to make at quarterback.
