Mueller conveys interest in questioning Trump

Donald Trump has claimed that it "seems unlikely" he will be interviewed by the special counsel investigating alleged collusion between his presidential election campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump said "we'll see what happens" when asked if he'd provide an interview to Mueller's team. "But when they have no collision, and nobody's found any collusion at any level, it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview".

President Trump stresses there was no collusion with between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation during the presidential election.

But the President's lawyers have in recent weeks prepared for the likelihood that Mueller will seek an interview with the President, considering how to respond to such a request.

But the president's legal team is considering a number of possible options for such an interview, including an in-person interview of Trump, written responses to questions submitted by Mueller's investigative team or an affidavit signed by the president stating his position on the case. "It has been determined there was no collusion", the U.S. president said.

Two more - including former White House national security advisor Michael Flynn - have pled guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about their contacts with Kremlin-connected officials.

In addition to his comments during that news conference Wednesday, Trump took to Twitter to deny the existence of any collusion. He said he'd be "glad to" speak to Mueller about it.

In a separate tweet, Trump accused Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of being "underhanded and a disgrace" for disclosing details of a dossier of allegations about his ties to Russian Federation during the presidential election campaign.

Meanwhile three congressional committees are conducting parallel, if less focused, investigations of the Trump presidential campaign, Russian hacking, the firing of FBI director James Comey and related issues. "Republicans should finally take control!" the commander-in-chief wrote. He said there had been "no collusion" and "no crime".

There is no polling on whether Americans think these investigations are a greater witch hunt than, say, the time they hunted witches in Salem.

Trump paid tribute to Norway's use of hydropower, adding: "I wish we'd do some of that". Headlines questioning whether Trump could be removed under the 25th Amendment, which allows Congress to remove a president from power if he or she is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office", followed the book's publication, as did renewed speculation of impeachment.
